Anyone who carries out commercial freight transport within the European Union must comply with the legal regulations on driving times and rest periods. To ensure compliance with the regulations, each driver must therefore collect activity-related data with his driver card.

The recording, storage and output of the information is handled by a digital tachograph. The company card makes it possible to download and print out the data, which is primarily relevant for fleet management and operational checks.

Various information is printed on the company card. This includes, in particular, the name and address of the company, the number of the card, the validity period and the issuing authority.

In addition, the following data, among others, can be read from the company card using a computer or the tachograph:

• Name and address of the company

• Card number

• Country, authority and date of issue

• Period of validity

• Official license plate number and registration authority

• Date, time and type of activities performed (e.g. downloading)

Companies with vehicles for commercial transportation of goods must apply for a company card.

Although the company card contains a lot of information, it does not store any data concerning the driver's activities. Nevertheless, all tachograph cards are important documents that must be protected from misuse. For this reason, you must also report it as quickly as possible if it is stolen or has a error.
